What is the actual love for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mean?
When we say we love the messenger of Allah (ﷺ) it means that he (ﷺ) must be more beloved to us than the love of wealth. The way we love our wealth, we will do anything to preserve it, to get it. This love is not an emotional love of a mother and child, which is based on a relationship with them, for having being raised by them.
The love of wealth is of a different kind, which has to do with what wealth represents. We love money for what it represents, what we can do with money. We are ready to do anything for it.
We should have greater love than that for the Prophet (ﷺ). It means if we have a choice between doing what is love of the Prophet (ﷺ) and love of wealth, we should choose what constitutes love of the Prophet (ﷺ). Loving the Prophet (ﷺ) more than wealth is to follow his instructions even now in times of economic difficulties.
How many of us can say we have the honor of loving the messenger of Allah? We will be hard pressed to find any. If we want to love the Prophet sincerely, we have to renew our faith.
Prophet (ﷺ) does not need our love; it is not going to improve his status in the next life – love for him is by living by his teachings. If you live a life contradictory to the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ), you actually hate him. Remember, actions speak louder than words. How you act is depicts very well what you have in your heart.
