The International Open University does not support or fuel any conflict. Hence, submitted articles should be free from political thoughts or propaganda of writer’s preference of some group. The IOU stands for authentic Islamic teachings which should be reflected in the submitted article.

Original: Your submitted article should not be published anywhere else. Plagiarized articles will be rejected immediately.

Practical: Your article should engage with the readers by using an encouraging tone and provide practical tips to follow. We do not want articles that are purely based on theory with no practical instructions to follow, or those that have a list of points in a “matter-of-fact” tone which our readers can find on various online platforms. Hence, ensure that you submit an entry that has your personal touch to it, is unique and practical.

High Standard: This blog represents the standards of the International Open University. Hence, a high standard of language and thought is necessary. Articles are expected to have a certain academic level.

Word Count: Article should be 600-1200 words. Articles that exceed or do not reach the word count will be automatically rejected.

Easy to Read: Your article should be readable. Therefore, break it into paragraphs with bullet points wherever necessary. Readers will lose interest within 5 minutes or so when sentences or paragraphs are long with no breaks. You don’t want that, we don’t want that either, so make it an easy read. ☺

No links: Your article should not contain any affiliate links.

References and Authenticity: Please use Sahih International as your Qur’anic translation of the meaning of the Qur’an. Hadiths should only be authentic. Hadiths from Sahih Bukhari and Muslim do not need further specification of authenticity. Hadiths from any other collection need classification stated (sahih, hasan, etc.). All hadiths need to be referenced (collection, vol., number). For explanation of verses, only Tafsir ibn Kathir should be used unless other quoted tafsir material will be provided with further classification and referencing. Your readers need to clearly understand your sources of Islamic references; hence, ensure that every Islamic claim has its reference.
