In the book by Muhammad Abdul-Haq Ansari, it is mentioned: "Allah reveals about the Unseen to a man and asks him to convey that to others, he is a Prophet and Messenger. But He does not ask him to preach it to others; he is a prophet, not a messenger.”

I am confused. I know the Prophet does not receive books.

Is the Prophet not responsible to preach or convey messages?

Please clarify.

There exists a difference of opinion amongst the scholars with regards to the difference between a Nabi and a Rasool. This is one opinion but the correct opinion is that they are ordered with conveying but they don’t have a new Shariah, they only confirm the law of those sent before them.

Amongst the evidence proving that a Prophet (nabi) is also ordered to convey the message is the Qur'anic verse: “Never did we send a Messenger or a Prophet before you except……” (Qur'an 22:52) the word send implies that they are both ordered to convey.
