What is the worst form of deceit?

The greatest form of deceit is a deceit in regards to Allah. As Allah describes in Surah Luqman:

 “And do not let the deceiver deceive you regarding Allah” [1]

This is the worst form of deceit. The reason is that other forms of deceit like political deceit and moral deceit are sins that can be forgiven.  However, deceit about Allah is the ultimate destruction, as it leads to complete loss of the purpose of our existence which is, to worship Allah alone.

Deceit about Allah is the most dangerous form of deceit as it distracts us from worshiping Allah. Modern society has many tools which serve as the weapons of Shaytaan to cause people to be deceived about Allah in different ways. This form of deceit has been around from the time Shaytaan decided to lead people astray, and we should be very careful of his traps to deceive people regarding their Creator.

Allah also says in Surah Fatir,

“Oh you who believe, indeed Allah’s promise is true, so do not let this worldly life deceive you and do not let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you regarding Allah.”[2]
