Is the name ‘Allah’ attributed to other names?
The fact that the other names of Allah are attributed to it, the name ‘Allah’ in itself, is not attributed to
other names. You will find an example of this in Surah Al A’raf, verse 180,
“The most beautiful names belong only to Allah, so call on Him with them.”
In this verse, all the other names are referred to as the names of Allah. Similarly, if you look at the
Basmalah- Bismillahi ar Rahmani ar Rahim, the names ar-Rahman and ar-Rahim are descriptive
names of Allah. Hence, we see that always the other names are attributed to ‘Allah', but ‘Allah’ is
attributed to the other names. You do not hear of ‘ar Rahman Allah’, but you hear ‘Allah ar- Rahman’ or
‘Allah ar-Rahim’.
