Should a Muslim participate in voting for a government?

Voting is something that may be necessary to protect the community from the harm; the system is an un Islamic system, we cannot uphold what it stands for; but if you know two persons who are seeking election, one of the 2 will be elected, one of them is an open enemy to Islam, the other one speaks nicely, then try to elect lesser of the 2 evils.

So I would not say that you should not vote, where your vote can make difference, but if both are the open enemy, no better than other, then don’t waste your time, giving vote.[1]
