Allah mentions about awliyah in the Qur’an that He is a friend to Him. But what is the reality here? Should people acknowledge the person who is considered a saint? Should he be given a high status? Does he really work as a ' waseela' (intermediary) between humans and Allah? I personally feel that I can contact Allah myself and that Allah listens to all. Is there any exception with saint?

The "Wali" as is popularly understood is false. It is absorbed from the saints of Christianity. The connection with Allah is direct. There is no need for intermediaries. Satan tricked people into thinking that they couldn't reach Allah directly. Those who allow themselves to be called saints and people bow before them and kiss their hands and feet are agents of Satan dragging people into shirk, the greatest possible sin.
