In the hadith "The best of people are my generation, then those in the following generation, then those in the following generation. Then there will come after them a people who will become obese and love obesity; they will testify before being asked to do so.", is there any significance of obesity?

What is meant by the words of the Prophet (ﷺ) “a people who will become obese and love obesity,” and in another narration, “and obesity will appear among them,” is that these people will be negligent towards their religious affairs, and all they will care about is eating, drinking, relaxing and sleeping.

The kind of obesity that is condemned is that which is acquired, not that which is the way a person is made.
