Isn’t Christianity a religion of the modern day?

If we look at this from the point of view of beliefs and practices, what is really being expressed here is that principles in Christianity don’t have too much value. They can be bent and twisted according to circumstances, which is why if you went back 100 years and asked a Christian scholar or follower, ‘What is the position of Christianity on homosexuality?’ they will say ‘It is an abomination and one of the greatest of evils!’ However, today you will find Christian ministers and people in churches, defending homosexuality and finding excuses for it. In California, there was a minister who explained that it is really about what he calls finding “just love”. He said “as long as your love is just, and there is justice in it, it doesn’t matter who it is you love, be it male or female”. He is making up his own religion, and he was not the first one to say it, as a number of people use this terminology, “just love”, “love with justice” and this is sort of becoming part of the foundation for the legal system approach towards homosexuality, something they call “consenting adults”.

This is the approach of Christianity. It will change as times change, without any problem. If you go back to the time of Christ and look at the women who were around Christ, you will see them as they are portrayed in the church today when they paint pictures of Mary. This is despite the fact that it is declared in the Old Testament (in the 10 Commandments) that it is prohibited to make any graven images. You will find pictures of Mary, the mother of Jesus; Mary Magdalene, and all others having scarves and long, loose flowing clothing, which does not expose the body. However, when we look around today we see the average female wearing clothes which can expose as much as possible; even the nuns have shortened their dresses and sleeves, and they just have a little piece of cloth on the top of their heads now, as it is modified and changed with time.

So what was right and good during the time of Jesus is no longer considered right, rather it is ‘inappropriate’. The Islamic view, on the other hand, is that what is right and good in the time of any prophet is right and good for all times. The truth is the truth; it is not something that varies from time to time, place to place, or people to people. Secularist civilizations now promote that everything is relative; one man’s meat is another man’s poison, and what Hitler saw as good we all look at it as being bad.

This is strange because in fact what is really evil and wrong has been defined by the Prophets, and this remains constant. Unless the truth (the way of life brought by the Prophets) is maintained, people will deviate. When they deviate, they go on the path of Satan, and this is why you will find the worst of sicknesses coming out of those who have deviated. Taking the example of America, which is considered the top in technology, we find the rate of suicide in the society is incredible, and you have millions of homeless people who live and die on the streets. There are people who are impoverished, and are in a state of virtual starvation. This is why a number of people in the States are saying ‘What do we do in sending all this food out, and all this aid goes out (when) people in our own country are not receiving this aid?’ There are people who are dying of malnutrition, they have food but it is not sufficient for them to develop properly. This is the peak of technology but they have deviated from the path of God.
