How did the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) described Dajjal?
The Prophet (ﷺ) described Dajjal as having the following attributes:
- He will be blind in the right eye that will move around in the socket, like a grape, in an unfixed position. His left eye will also be defective, having a thick film like a green glass, and that eye will also be bulging out of the socket.
- His complexion will be reddish-white, I.e. very white with a reddish tinge in his skin.
- He will have a prominent forehead and a white neck.
- He will be short, stout individual, built powerful, whose back will be slightly hunched. His feet will be set apart. He will also have a very curly hair.
The Prophet (ﷺ) described his looks similar to Abdul’ Uzza ibn Qatan from Quza’a tribe who died before Islamic era. The Prophet (ﷺ) also said that the word kufr (disbelief) will be written between his eyes on the forehead which will be recognized by both the literate and illiterate believers who will be able to spot, read, and understand it, unlike the disbelievers. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) described him in terms which leave no room for interpretation, other than a human being with a particular characteristics. Some people said that Dajjal is the television because it has one eye looking at you, or they say that freemasonry, which has the symbol of eye on the pyramid seen in American Dollar, is the Dajjal. There are so many interpretations. As Muslims, we have to believe what Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said about the Dajjal. We must believe that Dajjal is an actual person.
