How does a parent's example influence a child's life?

We have to be the best example for our children because they imitate their parents. We have to grow up righteous and have to show them a righteous example. If the mother is modest, shy and wears hijab, the children will do the same. If the mother is gentle, they will also be gentle. If the children see the mother worshipping Allah regularly, they will do the same. If the mother can control the anger, they will be raised by self control. Various qualities like being loving, affectionate, etc are copied by the children from their parents. On the other hand, if the mother engages in backbiting, the children will learn to do the same thing. If the mother lies all the time, the children may grow up as liars.

The father also plays a major role in a child's better growth and pave the way for them to follow. His style of communication, walking, other activities and character traits are to be followed by the son. That’s why it's very important to choose the husband/wife by observing the character of his/her parents. This is not absolute, but a sign.
