Someone says they love the teachings of Islam but have no answer why they have not become Muslim yet, or they say that they have heard about the teachings of Islam and are waiting for a sign. Do you have any advice for such people?
One needs to answer the question ‘why not’? Address the question to find out the reason why one is hesitating. Mostly it is due to family issues, about what people will say, what the family will say, etc. This is the usual factor that holds people back from accepting Islam. We know it happened in the Prophet’s (ﷺ) time too, where his uncle, Abu Talib, didn’t accept Islam out of the same fear. For those who might have that obstacle, you have to reflect on the fact that we don’t know when our time will come. We don’t know when we will die. When we have an awareness of the truth, we need to commit ourselves to it, take it on and know that Allah will ultimately provide, protect and help us through the rest of our lives. People all through the centuries have made this choice, gone through difficulties and suffered. But if one is sincere, it will only make one a stronger believer and ultimately when we stand in front of God on the Day of Judgment, He will not ask us about our friends and families, but about ourselves- why we didn’t make the choice when we could.
