What impact does the name Al Musawwir have on our daily lives?

The belief in Al Musawwir reminds the believer that the external forms that we have come from Allah and that there is nothing to be proud about in them because we did not create it. So what then is the important aspect of the human being? It isn’t the external form that we see and describe so and so as beautiful or handsome. Everybody wants to be beautiful and handsome but what Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had said:

“He doesn’t look at your forms or your wealth. Instead he looks at your hearts and your deeds.”[1]

Because where did the wealth come from? Allah gave it to you? You really didn’t earn it. You think you went to work and earned it, but no, Allah is the one who gave it to you. There are other people who go to work doing the same thing that you do but they don’t get it. This is the decision of Allah. Hence, this is not what makes a person good or pleasing in the sight of Allah.

Instead, in the end, what matters is what is in the heart in terms of the faith which is what distinguishes people and that’s what Allah looks at as he said:

“…..Indeed the most noble of you are the one who fear the Allah most ….” [2]

This is the principle that Allah has given us, not the external form which the people are divided into different form, shapes and sizes but the internal, the heart and what comes from the heart are the deeds. What kind of deeds we do this is what makes a person a great and a good person. This is why Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had told us when it comes to getting married: “A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty or for her piety. Select the pious, may you be blessed!” [3]

Choose the one that is most pious, the one who is pure in the hart is the most important aspect.

How will you raise a generation that does not have a good heart as Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had said: “Indeed in the body is a clump of flesh, if it becomes good all of the body   becomes good and if it goes bad the whole body goes bad indeed it is the heart.”

This is the essence of the matter. So the belief in Allah as Al-Musawwir should bring us to that reality. He is the one who created our forms so He is not giving us any special reward for them. It is from Him. What we should see when we see beauty or whatever, we see Allah’s greatness not the greatness of the individual because the true greatness lies in the quality of that individual - his or her moral character, his or her faith, his or her deeds what kind of deeds that they do, what kind of life do they live. This is the basic factor which you use to determine to distinguish amongst people, the status of the faith.
