What benefit can we gain by knowing Allah’s names?

We look at Allah’s names to understand Allah through these names, to see what these names indicate in terms of His attributes so that we can better understand Him and to worship Him in accordance with His names. We also look to see how these names should impact on us as believers, the relevance does they have in our day-to-day life, the lessons, the knowledge which is there that we can extract from them that we can use to make our lives more in keeping with what Allah wants from us because this is why Allah revealed these names.

Allah told us:

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them…” [1]

All the good, excellent, beautiful names belong to Allah so we call on Him with them, pray to Him in accordance with them and use them while praying to Allah.
