What is the meaning and effect of belief in the name of Allaah, As-Salaam?

As-Salaam means the Bestower and the source of peace. Firstly, we should have the knowledge that Allaah, first and foremost, is free of defects, like the name Al-Quddus. Part of the meanings of the name, As-Salaam, is also from As-Salaamah which means well-being and safe from any kind of harm. So relative to Allaah, it means that He is without any defects. We recognize Allah through this divine name, as being free and without any kind of defects. For example, it means that the promises that He gave us success in this life through living a life like a prisoner is true. We should have no doubt about it. We sacrifice and we give up the things we may desire for the sake of Allah, and He will reward us for it. One of the meanings of the name is safety and peace and we should only seek that state of peace from Allah. He told us that it is only with the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest. And this in fact is the real goal that each and every human being is striving for, whether he knows it or whether he does not know it, that is really what they are looking for. All of the things that people do, they want to find some sense of contentment but they were looking at the wrong place. Some people try to find it in music, so they surround themselves in music. And they find some sense of contentment, but when the music stops, because they cannot live in music all the time, and then it is gone. It comes for a while, and then it is gone. Some people find it in drugs, you take certain drugs, you feel pleasant, you feel happy, but then the drugs goes after a while then you feel down. It is something artificial, it is not real. It will not keep you in that state of contentment. And people in order to try to keep themselves in that state of contentment end up overdosing and killing themselves. So the real peace and contentment that people strive for in this life can only be found in the remembrance of Allah, being conscious of Allah and live a life in accordance with what Allah has told us to do.
