What is the dua, which the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) gave to Abu Bakr’s (radi Allahu anhu) on special request?
This dua is one, which was related by Abu Bakr, the closest companion of Prophet Muhammad and the first caliph after him. He asked the Prophet what should he say in the morning and in the evening. He asked him to give him a supplication which he could use in the morning and in the evening. And the supplication which Prophet Muhammad gave him was none other than a supplication beginning with Allahuma, Oh Allah. This is the best that Prophet Muhammad has to give him. He told him to say,
“Oh Allah, Knower of the unseen and the visible, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and the owner of everything, I testify that there is none worthy of worship but you. I seek refuge in you from the evil of my soul, and the evil of Satan and his idolatry.”
This was the dua which Prophet Muhammad gave, based on the special request of Abu Bakr, it begins with, “Oh Allah, Knower of the unseen and the visible.” So this is a dua that we should try to learn and to put it in our daily lives. In the early morning, Prophet Muhammad said to say it when you get up in the morning and in the evening. And they also recommended that it to be said even before going to sleep at night.
